C.R.A.P. is Back! (Sort of)
As some of you know, I sell the crap in my garage to raise money for mikeroweWORKS. I’ve been negligent of late, not due to a dearth of C.R.A.P., (Collectibles, Rare And Precious,) but rather, a lack of time. By the end of the year, I hope to resurrect my weekly offerings, and reinvigorate the coffers of the mrW scholarship fund. In the meantime, wanna buy a watch?
Last week in NY, while shamelessly plugging SGDI, I found myself on the set of CNN’s New Day. After the interview, Chris Cuomo said he liked my watch, so I gave it to him. (I read once that Frank Sinatra used to do the same thing with his hats.)
Unlike Frank’s hats however, my watch was cheap to make and cheap to buy. It was originally sold as a fundraiser. It bears the mikeroweWORKS logo, and sold for $30 at retail. It’s only real value is sentimental. I wore this particular watch everyday for the last two years, and used it on many occasions to confirm my chronic tardiness. Now, they’re out of production, and I’m out of time, as it were. I just learned that Chris is auctioning off my watch and pledging the money back to my foundation. Very nice. Nicer still – the current bid is $500.
To my knowledge, this is the first time a $30 time piece, formerly worn by a guy in a sewer and currently worn by a nice man in a respectable suit has been made available for the betterment of mankind. The auction ends tomorrow, and the cause is just. So please consider yourself officially invited to overbid dramatically.
PS. Normally, I sign all my C.R.A.P., and provide a dubious certificate of authenticity. That didn’t happen here because I didn’t know that Chris was going to get all philanthropic on me. However, if you’re the high bidder, and you desire my John Hancock on the watchband, I’m sure we can make that happen with a little help from Fed Ex.
